about Hair & body.
Korean hair and body care applies skincare thinking from the scalp down. Shampoos are made for the scalp the hair grows from, treatments and oils look after dry, heat-worn lengths, and body lotions, washes and hand creams borrow the textures you would expect on your face.
For hair, keep scalp and lengths separate: Pyunkang Yul's Dancheong shampoo and MinTree's scalp shampoo look after the roots, the UNOVE Deep Damage Treatment EX is a conditioner and mask in one for heat-worn ends, and UNOVE's Silk Oil Essence settles frizz and brings back shine. Below the neck, the MARY & MAY Shea Butter & Rice Bran Body Cream melts into dry, rough skin without stickiness, and body oils, exfoliating back-and-chest lotions and hand creams cover the rest.
questions, answered.
In what order do I use hair and body products in the shower?
Scalp first: a weekly scalp scrub or scaler goes on before shampoo, then the shampoo worked into the scalp. Conditioner or a hair treatment goes on the lengths from the ears down, and the body wash comes last. Out of the shower, pat dry and smooth on a body lotion or cream (a body oil can go on while the skin is still damp), and a leave-in treatment or hair oil goes on towel-dried ends before any heat.
Which body lotion suits dry, rough or bumpy skin?
For dry, rough skin, a rich cream with shea butter softens it without a sticky feel. For a bumpy back or chest, an exfoliating lotion lifts away dead skin; use it a few evenings a week to start and wear sunscreen on any exfoliated skin that sees daylight. A body oil smooths texture and suits the days your skin wants extra comfort, and a body mist is the lightest format.
Do I need a scalp treatment as well as shampoo?
Not always: a good scalp shampoo is the base. A scalp treatment adds a focused step and comes in different forms. Some go on after shampoo and rinse out like a conditioner, serums and ampoules are massaged into clean, towel-dried roots and left in, and tonics mist straight onto the scalp. Follow the directions for the form you pick, and if your scalp is sensitive, add one scalp product at a time so you can see what suits it.
