Bentonite

A soft clay formed from volcanic ash.

How often
Daily in cleansing foams and the retinol cream; clay and peel-off masks range from weekly use to several times a week, and eyeliner is used with makeup.

What we recommend keeping out of the same session as bentonite, and why.

  • AHAAvoid together

    A bentonite mask draws out oil, and an AHA the same day can leave skin feeling stripped. Keep them to different days.

  • BHAAvoid together

    A bentonite mask and BHA both clear out oil, so together they can leave skin tight. Save BHA for the days you skip the mask.

  • RetinolAvoid together

    A bentonite mask leaves skin drier than usual, so give retinol the night off whenever you use one.
