about Sheet masks.

A Korean sheet mask turns a quiet pause into soft, dewy, freshly hydrated skin, and that is the whole of its appeal. The MEDIHEAL Madecassoside Essential Mask (10 pack) cools and calms stressed-looking skin, and the Dr.Jart+ Cryo Rubber with Moisturizing Hyaluronic Acid pairs an ampoule with a cooling rubber mask for plump, fresh skin.

If cotton slides around on you, try a gel: Abib's Collagen Gel Mask jellies and VT's Reedle Shot hydrogel masks cling to the face. A mask slots in right after toner, a quiet spell of extra care whenever you want one. Pouches travel flat, so a stack from KBeauty Shop fits a weekend bag as easily as the bathroom drawer.

questions, answered.

Which sheet mask should I try first?

Thirsty skin is best served by the MEDIHEAL Hyaluronate Essential Mask Ultra Hydration (10 pack). If you want a firmer, bouncier look, go for its collagen sibling, the MEDIHEAL Collagen Essential Mask (10 pack). Curious about gel? The Abib Collagen Gel Mask Heartleaf Jelly hugs the face, and the papa recipe Bombee Honey Mask Pack leaves a soft glow.

How long should a sheet mask stay on?

As long as the pack says, which runs from ten to twenty minutes for most cotton sheets to twenty to forty minutes for gel and rubber masks. Take it off while the sheet still feels wet: once it dries it starts to draw moisture back out of the skin, so leaving one on overnight does less than people assume. Press what is left into the skin instead of rinsing, then moisturize to hold it in.

How often can I use a sheet mask?

Two or three a week suits most skin, and plain hydrating sheets can be used most days on dehydrated skin. Sheets carrying acids, vitamin C or retinal are different: give them the same schedule as any active, a couple of times a week at most. If skin starts to look puffy or waterlogged, ease back.

What do I do with the essence left in the pouch?

Press it into your neck, chest, the backs of your hands and your arms, or reseal the pouch and use the rest the next morning. There is usually far more in there than the sheet holds. Once it has sunk in, carry on with your routine as normal: serum if you use one, then moisturizer.
