Exfoliation and texture
PHA
PHAs, the exfoliating acids that take their time, for a smooth, glowing finish.
- Conditions skin
- What it is
- Polyhydroxy acids, larger relatives of AHAs that work more slowly at the surface; on a label, gluconolactone or lactobionic acid.
- What it does
- Used in toners, pads and peel serums for gentle resurfacing and glow, and a common pick for skin that finds AHAs or BHA too strong.
- How often
- Daily in most cleansers, toners and moisturizers; stronger exfoliants, shot essences and masks have specific schedules. Cleansing oils and sleeping packs are evening steps, hair care is used at wash time, lip care when needed, and sun care reapplied outdoors.
